How to Make a Labubu Ornament
Download the Free Labubu Ornamment Images from our Resource Library using the link below.
The images provided are sized for a 3-inch ornament. If you need to resize it, you can do so in Canva. See below in the FAQs for instructions
1 -Print the image on waterslide paper. Ensure the print quality is set to “Best.”

2 -Place a zot in the bottom of the cardboard box, which we will be using to prevent any of the acrylic spray from spreading.
3 -Place the image in the cardboard box and press lightly into the zot.
4 – Apply Acrylic Spray sealant according to the waterslide package directions. (most brands require 2 to 3 coats)
5 – Using a lint-free cloth, wipe the ornament with rubbing alcohol to remove any unseen dirt or oil on the surface.
6 – Cut around the printed. sealed design.
7 – Fill the soaking dish with enough warm water to cover your decal.

8 – Place the cut waterslide image into the warm water for about 30-60 seconds (check package instructions for recommended times)
9 – While the image is soaking, get the surface of the ornament wet. This will help the decal slide onto the surface.
10 – Remove the decal from the water, testing a corner to see if the backer paper is releasing from the printed membrane. If it doesn’t slide or release, soak for a few more seconds.
11 – Place the decal onto the ornament and slowly slide out the backer paper. Be gentle and go slow. Make sure, before you start sliding out the backing paper, that you have the image where you want it. Waterslide paper tears easily and can be unforgiving.
12 – Use your fingers to remove any wrinkles or bubbles from the surface of the image.

13 – Using a paper towel or lint lint-free cloth, gently soak up excess water.
14 – Allow to dry fully.
15 – Seal the finished Labubu Ornament with a light coating of the clear acrylic spray or Mod Podge Ultra.
16 – Add a ribbon or ornament hanger and enjoy!

Helpful Tips and FAQs
Why did my Waterslide decal tear?
Waterslide paper is temperamental and has to be done according to the package directions without deviating. If your waterslide paper rips or tears, it could be because:
- Improper Sealing. Most brands require 2 or 3 coats over the entire image. Make sure you get the edges and that there are no gaps. Make sure that you are moving your hand back and forth while sealing to prevent uneven spots.
- Too long drying time – I have found that if I let the sealed image dry too long, the results are not favourable. Follow the exact recommended time on the product.
- Surface is too dry – The waterslide paper is designed to slide onto the surface. Wet the entire surface with your hands, making sure it is smooth and slippery.
- Soaked too Long – Waterslide paper, when sealed properly, creates a thin membrane with your image on it. Soaking too long can cause the membrane to weaken.
- Overworking – Waterslide paper is fragile, and overworking it can cause damage and tears to the membrane. If you need to reposition the membrane, keep the surface wet and slippery to minimize damage.
Can I fix a rip or tear?
Rips or tears cannot be fixed, but in most cases, they can be hidden, depending on the size of the tear. For small tears, try using a marker that matches the colour and fill in the area. You can also try using acrylic paint. Using paint is one of my preferred methods, as I can mix a colour to match and even create ombre and shading if needed.
I hope you were inspired to give waterslid epaper and try and make a cute labubu ornament. They make beautiful gifts for Labubu fans.
