Rope wreaths are one of those crafts that look high-end but are surprisingly easy to make. With just a few inexpensive supplies and a little hot glue, you can create a beautiful rope wreath that works for coastal, farmhouse, rustic, or even modern décor. Best of all, this project is beginner-friendly and completely customizable for any occasion.

Supplies Needed
- Wreath form
- Pool Noodle
- Rope (jute rope is ideal)
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Scissors
- Foam Cutter
- Masking Tape
How to Make a Rope Wreath
1 – Cut a pool into 3 sections and then cut the noodle sections vertically in half.
2 – Press the sections into the wire wreath form and secure with masking tape.

3 – Begin by attaching the end of your rope to the back of the wreath form using hot glue. Hold it in place for a few seconds until the glue sets securely.
4 – Start wrapping the rope tightly around the wreath form, keeping each wrap snug against the previous one. Work slowly and neatly so no gaps are showing underneath.

5 – As you wrap, add beads of hot glue every few wraps to keep the rope from shifting. Press the rope firmly into the glue before continuing. This step ensures your wreath stays secure and neatly formed.
6 – Keep wrapping and gluing until the entire wreath form is completely covered. Take your time to maintain even spacing for a clean, professional look.
7 – Once you reach the starting point, cut the rope neatly and secure the end to the back of the wreath with hot glue. Press firmly and allow it to cool completely. Trin off any hairs or suzz to clean up the wreath.

8 – Fluuf (so to speak) the wreath and realign any rope that went crooked. Add a loop of wire to the back of the wreath by carefully weaving it through the rows of rope.

Decorating Your Rope Wreath
At this point, your rope wreath is ready to display as-is, or you can personalize it. Add silk flowers, faux greenery for a natural touch, tie on a bow for softness, or incorporate seasonal décor to change it up throughout the year.

Tips and FAQs
Types of Rope
Choose a rope that best suits the aesthetic you are looking for. I like natural Jute rope for its rustic farmhouse look, but there are many options, including:
- Natural Cotton Rope
- Lightweight Coloured Rope
- Hemp Rope
- Sisal Rope (common on scratching posts)
Some types of synthetic rope can burn when in contact with hot glue, so be cautious when applying glue.
Some ropes have more hair than others. If you are looking for a clean finish, look for a tight, braided, smooth rope.
Alternatives to Wire Wreath Form
An alternative to a wire wreath form is a styrofoam wreath form, or you could make one from a flat piece of cardboard and a pool noodle adhered with masking tape to it.
Storing your Rope Wreath
Store away from liquids and fabrics that may leave lint or pills on the wreath. Wrap in tissue paper and store flat for the best results.,
A DIY rope wreath is an easy and affordable project that adds texture and warmth to any space. Whether you prefer a simple, minimalist look or something more decorative, this wreath can be styled to suit your home and the season. Once you make one, you’ll want to create more in different sizes and styles!
