How to Make Printable Chip Bags for Valentine’s Day
- The first step is to do your printing. Print all of the chip bag templates at once for a quicker more efficient use of your time. I always give my paper a couple of minutes to completely dry before I start to put the bags together.
- Place the chip bag onto the printed chip bag template and eye where the fold will be for the side of the bag.
- Lightly press the fold for each side of the bag.
- Run a bead of tape along the inside of the bottom and the top of the printed chip bag. It is only needed between the side folds of the bag.
- Run another bead of glue along one of the sides.
- Fold the bag and press the bottom and the back seam of the bag, taking care to overlap the seams so that the tape is not visible and is well stuck. Be careful not to stick the top seam together.
- Place a chip bag into the printed bag and pinch the top seam together.
- Press all of the seams with your finger to ensure they are all well sealed.
- Using your paper crimper, crimp both ends of the bag.

Do I need a paper crimper?
No, but using a paper crimper will give you a professional look It is worth the investment if you’re making printable. chip bags as a fundraising project. If you don’t have a crimper, consider making a decorative edge using paper punches or decorative scissors.
For a professional look always choose a thin glossy paper. A thin photo paper or brochure Paper is the best. If the paper is too thick it doesn’t crimp well and has little of. crinkle to it.

I recommend using Canva. com to create printable chip bags.
If you don’t already have an account, you can create one for free. I use a paid account, but there are a lot of options in Canva using the free account.
To create custom chip bags, measure around the chip bag (from and back) and top to bottom.
Use your measurement in Canva to create a custom size. Typically chip bags (up to 28 hr size) will use a full sheet of 8.5 by 11″ paper.
What other kind of paper can I use?
Yes, absolutely. Remember that you will need to give the glue some time to dry before you use your paper crimper. Trying to use the crimper while the glue is wet can seep out and damage your crimper. I prefer double-sided tape, as it is faster (yes I’m impatient) and it has a cleaner more professional look.
Can I use glue instead of double-sided tape?
Yes, but I don’t recommend it Allow the seams to fully dry before inserting the chips and using a paper crimper. Using a crimper before the glue is fully dry can result in glue seeping out and getting into your crimper.
