How to Make Printable Valentine’s Day Candy Wrappers
1 – Download our Free Design (or make your own)
Our designs are free for you to use for personal use only.
The Valentine’s Day Candy Wrappers are contained in a zip file. Once downloaded, you can double-click to use any or all of the designs.
2 – Make sure our downloadable designs will fit your candy bar. Measure the length of your bar and add 1.5 inches for crimping. These designs fit a standard-sized bar. Our images are for a regular-sized Coffee Crisp, Hershey’s Plain Chocolate Bar. Our designs do not fit fun-sized or mini-sized bars. If you need to resize the images, upload them to Canva and make the appropriate adjustments. (If you are on the free account not, you may not be able to resize) If you need to resize, you can load our image into an image program, such as Photoshop or gimp and crop and resize.
3 – Print the images. Make sure you print the wrapper on the shiny side of the paper. Make sure to choose high quality when printing
4 – Once printed, use your paper trimmer to trim around the designs and remove unneeded white edges.
5 – Do a test and wrap the paper around the bar to check the fit. Press fold lines with your fingers.
6 – Trim if necessary with a paper trimmer or scissors.
7 – Run a bead of tape on the top side along where the back seam will be. Make sure you go the entire length (end to end)
8 – Run a bead of tape on the inside of both ends on the unprinted side of the wrapper.
9 – Place a candy bar in the center of the wrapper.
10 – Fold over the wrapper and stick the back seam together.
11 – Pinch the ends together.
12 – Center the candy bar in the middle of the printed wrapper and use your paper crimper to crimp both ends.
13 – Repeat the process with every candy bar.
Helpful Tips
Alternatives to using a Paper Crimper
If you don’t have a paper crimper, there are still ways to make your Valentine’s Day candy wrappers decorative. Try using decorative-edged scissors or pinking shears on the ends. Washi tape also looks good, when used in contrasting colours or designs. Add firing by cutting small slits in the ends, (you made need to add a second row of glue tapes to avoid the ends coming open for this one)
If you like the crimped look but don’t have a crimper, you can make small folds and then use a large alligator clip to hold them together. The trick to getting this right is making the folds very small. It is important to have very thin paper for this technique.
Lastly, you can use a scoring tool, scoring board, or straight edge on a flat surface. You will need to score both sides. If you don’t have a scoring tool, you could use a smooth tracing wheel, fondant roller or even a pizza cutter (be careful how much pressure you use)
